Hoya Lyi ‘Prism’ is a rare and captivating outer-variegated cultivar of the Hoya lyi species. Its thick, glossy dark-green leaves are edged with striking shades of yellow, white, or pink variegation. On some leaves, the variegation extends irregularly toward the center, creating a unique, mosaic-like pattern reminiscent of marbled or virus-like speckling. Compact in growth, this variety is perfect for smaller pots or hanging displays. In bloom, it produces clusters of delicate, soft pink star-shaped flowers that beautifully complement its colorful foliage.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Bright, indirect light keeps variegation vibrant. Some morning sun enhances pink tones, but avoid harsh afternoon sun.
-
Watering: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry between waterings; avoid overwatering.
-
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity (60%+). Occasional misting helps maintain healthy foliage.
-
Temperature: Ideal range 18–27 °C (65–80 °F); protect from cold drafts.
-
Soil: Use a well-draining mix—orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir or peat moss work well.
-
Fertilizer: Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced, diluted fertilizer.
-
Growth Habit: Compact and slow-growing; suitable for pots or hanging baskets.
-
Propagation: Easily propagated from stem cuttings with at least one node.
