Paraphalaenopsis laycockii is a terete‑leaved epiphytic orchid native to the lowland and hill forests of Borneo, where it grows on tree trunks in warm, humid conditions.

Care Tips:

  • Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Avoid strong direct midday sun to prevent leaf damage. Filtered light or morning sun is ideal.

  • Temperature: Likes warm conditions, roughly daytime 27–32 °C (80–90 °F) and not much cooler at night.

  • Watering: Keep roots moist but not waterlogged. Mounted plants may need frequent watering; if planted in a very airy medium (like coarse bark), water 1–2 times a week, more often in heat.

  • Humidity: High humidity is beneficial; aim for consistent moist air around the plant.

  • Mounting & Medium: Grows well mounted on bark/cork or in a hanging basket to accommodate its downward growth. If in a container, use a very airy, fast‑draining mix such as coarse bark with sphagnum.

  • Airflow: Ensure good air circulation to help prevent rot and fungal problems.

  • Fertilization: Use a balanced orchid fertilizer during active growth (diluted) to support flowering and healthy leaves.
