Bartramia pomiformis, commonly known as Apple Moss, is a species of moss belonging to the Bartramiaceae family and Bartramia genus. It typically grows in areas with high humidity, such as along streams, ditches, or on soil and rocks. The moss can grow in dense or sparse clumps, and mature colonies form bread-like clusters, while younger colonies are thinner. The plants are yellow-green, with brown interwoven pseudo-roots inside, growing to a height of 2-4 cm. The stems are erect or leaning and often branched. During the spore period, Apple Moss is easily identifiable by its spherical spore capsules.
Care Tips:
- Temperature: Best grown at 15-28°C, requiring good airflow.
- Light: Prefers diffused light or indirect light.
- Humidity: Needs a humidity level of 65% or higher for optimal growth.
This moss is ideal for moisture-rich environments, such as aquascapes or terrariums, where it can thrive with proper care.
