Asplenium coenobiale is a fern species in the genus Asplenium, family Aspleniaceae, distributed across East and Southeast Asia with a distribution center in southwestern China. It typically inhabits tropical to subtropical regions, growing in forested, humid, and shaded environments similar to many other Asplenium species.

Care Tips:

  • Light

    • Prefers bright, indirect light or full shade.

    • Avoid strong direct sun, which can scorch fronds.

  • Temperature

    • Thrives in warm, subtropical to tropical conditions.

    • Ideal range: 18–26 °C (64–79 °F).

    • Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below ~10 °C.

  • Humidity

    • Requires high humidity (60–80%).

    • Mist regularly or use a humidifier.

    • Excellent for terrariums or shaded, humid corners.

  • Watering

    • Keep the substrate consistently moist but never waterlogged.

    • Water when the surface begins to feel slightly dry.

    • Avoid allowing the root zone to fully dry out.

  • Substrate

    • Use a loose, well-draining, humus-rich mix.

    • Good options: peat + perlite + bark, or a woodland-style mix with leaf mold.

    • Slightly acidic to neutral soil is preferred.

  • Air Circulation

    • Good airflow helps prevent fungal issues, but avoid harsh drafts.

  • Fertilization

    • Feed lightly during the growing season (spring–summer).

    • Use a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks.

  • Maintenance

    • Remove old or yellowing fronds.

    • Repot every 1–2 years to refresh substrate and encourage healthy growth.
