Begonia ‘Egret Frost’ is an eye-catching foliage begonia with distinctive, asymmetrical leaves reminiscent of Begonia ‘Autumn Ember’, but with a unique seasonal color transformation. Its leaves display a beautiful mosaic of creamy white and fresh green, accented by delicate pink to reddish speckles scattered across the surface. During warmer summer conditions, the foliage tends to become greener, while cooler temperatures in winter bring out a much paler, predominantly creamy-white appearance. This fascinating seasonal variation gives the plant a changing look throughout the year.

Care Tips:

  • Light: Provide bright, indirect light to maintain compact growth and attractive leaf patterns. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, especially when the leaves are predominantly white.

  • Water: Keep the growing medium lightly and evenly moist, allowing the surface to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid waterlogging and prolonged dryness.

  • Humidity: Maintain moderate to high humidity, ideally around 60–80%, with gentle air circulation to help prevent fungal problems.

  • Temperature: Grow in a stable, mild environment, ideally around 18–25°C (65–77°F). Cooler conditions may encourage paler foliage, while warmer temperatures can bring out more green. Avoid extreme heat and sudden temperature fluctuations.

  • Growing Medium: Use a loose, airy, well-draining mix that retains some moisture, such as peat or coco coir combined with perlite.

  • Fertilizer: Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 2–4 weeks during active growth. Avoid excessive nitrogen, which may encourage greener foliage.

  • Air Circulation: Ensure gentle airflow around the leaves, avoiding stagnant, excessively humid conditions.

  • Acclimation: After arrival, keep the plant in a warm, humid, sheltered location and allow it to acclimate before repotting or fertilizing.
