Begonia ‘Lamoon’ is a distinctive cane-type hybrid selected from a cross of Begonia aconitifolia × Begonia U062 and is recognized for its unusual foliage coloration. The leaves can display shimmering silver, soft rose-pink, and burgundy tones, with color intensity varying according to light, temperature, and growing conditions. Its upright, cane-like growth habit and luminous foliage make it an appealing choice for collectors of unusual begonias.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Provide bright, indirect light to encourage attractive foliage coloration. Protect the plant from harsh direct sunlight.
-
Temperature: Maintain warm conditions, ideally around 20–27°C (68–81°F). Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
-
Humidity: Aim for 65–85% humidity with good air circulation.
-
Watering: Water when the upper layer of the growing medium begins to dry. Keep the roots lightly moist but never waterlogged.
-
Growing Medium: Use an airy, well-draining mix that retains some moisture, such as a blend of peat or coco coir, perlite, and fine bark.
-
Fertilizing: During active growth, apply a balanced fertilizer at half strength every 2–4 weeks.
-
Pruning: Trim excessively long stems as needed to encourage branching and maintain a compact shape.
-
Acclimation: After shipping, keep the plant in a warm, humid environment with gentle airflow and introduce it gradually to its new growing conditions.
