Begonia Plant Bird is an eye-catching foliage begonia featuring broad, maple-leaf-like leaves with a striking two-tone pattern. Each leaf presents a vivid contrast between its silvery, light-reflective center and deep emerald-green margins, forming a dramatic radial pattern that looks almost hand-painted. The silvery surface can also reflect cool-toned light, creating a subtle blue sheen when viewed from certain angles.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh direct sun to prevent leaf burn.
-
Watering: Water when the top 2–3 cm (1 inch) of soil feels dry. Keep the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged. Reduce watering in winter.
-
Temperature: Ideal temperatures are between 18–26°C (65–78°F). Protect the plant from cold drafts and temperatures below 12°C (54°F).
-
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity, ideally 50%–70%. Use a humidifier or pebble tray if the air is dry; avoid misting directly on the leaves.
-
Soil: Use a well-draining, airy mix such as peat or coco coir blended with perlite and bark. Good drainage helps prevent root rot.
-
Fertilizer: Feed with a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer every 3–4 weeks during spring and summer. Reduce feeding during fall and winter.
-
Maintenance: Remove old or yellowing leaves to improve airflow. Rotate the pot every 1–2 weeks for even growth. Propagate easily by stem cuttings with nodes.
