Begonia Snow Capped Variegated is a stunning cane-type begonia with green leaves covered in snowy white speckles. Unlike the standard Begonia ‘Snow Capped,’ this variegated form also displays delicate pink and yellow variegation, adding extra layers of color and charm. Its growth rate is slower than that of the non-variegated type, but the unique foliage makes it especially prized among collectors.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
-
Temperature: Maintain a comfortable range around 65-75 °F (18-24 °C). Avoid exposing to cold drafts or temperatures below ~55 °F (13 °C).
-
Humidity: Keep humidity relatively high (around 60% or more) to preserve leaf health and prevent browning or wilting.
-
Watering: Let the top ~1–2 inches of soil dry slightly before watering. Do not let the plant sit in waterlogged soil.
-
Soil: Use a well-draining, airy substrate, mixing organic matter (peat, coco coir) with perlite or similar for drainage.
-
Fertilizer: During the active growing season, feed with a diluted balanced fertilizer (e.g. every 4–6 weeks).
-
Pruning & Shaping: Pinch or trim stems to encourage branching and maintain a pleasing shape.
-
Propagation: Propagate via stem cuttings (or cane sections) in moist, well-draining medium, keeping humidity high until roots establish.
