Begonia sp. Silver Foam is an attractive foliage begonia originating from Vietnam, admired for its rounded, asymmetrical leaves and distinctive silvery-white markings. The fresh green leaf surface is covered with irregular, raised-looking silver-white spots that create a beautiful foamy pattern against the green background.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Provide bright, indirect light to encourage healthy growth and well-defined silver markings. Avoid strong direct sunlight, which may scorch the leaves.
-
Water: Keep the growing medium evenly moist but not soggy. Allow the top layer to dry slightly between waterings, and avoid prolonged dryness.
-
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity, ideally around 60–80%. Maintain gentle air circulation to reduce the risk of fungal problems.
-
Temperature: Maintain a warm environment around 18–26°C (65–79°F). Protect the plant from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
-
Growing Medium: Use a loose, airy, well-draining substrate that retains some moisture, such as peat or coco coir mixed with perlite.
-
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 2–4 weeks during active growth.
-
Air Circulation: Provide gentle airflow and avoid leaving the foliage wet for extended periods.
-
Acclimation: After arrival, place the plant in a warm, sheltered location with stable humidity. Allow it to acclimate before repotting or fertilizing.
