Begonia sp. Zebra is a striking foliage begonia admired for its bold, patterned leaves. Native to Vietnam, it features round to heart-shaped leaves with a muted olive-green background decorated with irregular pale lime-green spots and elongated markings that radiate from the center, creating a distinctive zebra-like pattern.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves and fade the markings.
-
Water: Keep the soil lightly moist but not soggy. Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings.
-
Humidity: Thrives in high humidity (60% or higher). Using a humidifier or placing the plant in a terrarium-like environment can help maintain ideal conditions.
-
Temperature: Best grown in warm temperatures between 18–26°C (65–79°F). Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C (59°F).
-
Soil: Use a well-draining, airy mix such as peat or coco coir combined with perlite and orchid bark.
-
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 3–4 weeks during the growing season.
-
Air Circulation: Good airflow helps prevent fungal issues, especially in humid environments.
-
Propagation: Can be propagated through leaf cuttings or stem cuttings under warm, humid conditions.
