Funaria hygrometrica, commonly known as Bonfire Moss or Common Cord-Moss, is a small, upright moss of the genus Funaria. It is pale green in color, with a single stem and a false root at the base. It typically grows in shady, damp locations such as the corners of walls, under trees, or on tree trunks. This moss prefers rich, humus-filled, damp ground and reproduces through spores. The plant is quite small, usually only 1-3 cm tall, with differentiated stems and leaves. The leaves are small, thin, and lack veins, appearing either oval or tongue-shaped. It does not have true roots, but rather short, thin false roots that help anchor the plant.
Care Requirements:
- Temperature: Keep the temperature around 18-20°C.
- Light: Prefers shady conditions and should be placed in a semi-shaded area. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
- Humidity: Keep the soil moist but not overly wet, ensuring good ventilation to prevent excess moisture buildup.
This moss thrives in moist, shaded environments and is well-suited for places with high humidity and adequate airflow.
Purchase Size: 15×8 cm (5.91×3.15‘’).
