Brassolaeliocattleya Petite Stars is an orchid hybrid resulting from a cross between Brassocattleya Richard Mueller × Laelia rubescens (*syn. Cattleya rubescens). This hybrid is characterized by its star-shaped flowers, typically displayed in soft shades of pink to yellow, with blooms often featuring a funnel-shaped pink lip marked with red spotting, giving the flowers an elegant and refined appearance.
Care Tips:
-
Light:
-
Bright, indirect light is ideal.
-
Provide strong light similar to Cattleya care — too little light reduces flowering.
-
-
Watering:
-
Water thoroughly when the potting medium begins to dry.
-
Avoid waterlogging; good drainage prevents root rot.
-
-
Temperature:
-
Grows well in intermediate to warm conditions (daytime warm, nights slightly cooler).
-
A mild day–night temperature difference can encourage blooming.
-
-
Humidity & Airflow:
-
Moderate to high humidity (~50–70%) is helpful.
-
Ensure good circulation to avoid fungal/bacterial issues.
-
-
Potting Medium & Repotting:
-
Use a well-draining orchid mix (bark chips, charcoal, perlite, etc.).
-
Repot every 1–2 years or when the medium breaks down.
-
-
Fertilizing:
-
Feed with a balanced orchid fertilizer during growing season.
-
Reduce feeding when plant is not actively growing.
-
-
General Tips:
-
These hybrids often benefit from good light and airflow like other Cattleya-alliance orchids.
-
Flower color and pattern can vary because of the diverse genetics in hybrids.
