Bulbophyllum blepharistes is a mini-miniature, bifoliate epiphytic orchid species found in Assam, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, and Malaysia. It inhabits evergreen, semi-deciduous, and deciduous dry lowland forests and savanna-like woodlands at elevations ranging from sea level to 1,700 meters. The plant features flattened, ovate pseudobulbs spaced approximately 2 cm apart on a woody rhizome, each bearing two apical, bilobed, elliptical leaves. It blooms in summer and fall, producing yellow flowers approximately 1 cm wide and 3 cm long on a basal, slender inflorescence.

Care Tips:

  • Light: Provide low to full sunlight exposure.

  • Temperature: Maintain temperatures between 20°C and 29°C (68°F to 84°F).

  • Humidity: High humidity is essential; aim for levels between 60% and 90%.

  • Watering: Water 2–3 times daily during warm weather; ensure the growing medium is moist but not waterlogged.

  • Substrate: Use a well-draining mix or mount on wood, provided it can be watered regularly.

  • Fertilization: Apply a balanced orchid fertilizer during the growing season; reduce feeding during the dormant period.
