Bulbophyllum lindleyanum is a small, epiphytic orchid species native to Myanmar, Thailand, and India. This species is admired for its delicate, clustered flowers and is well-suited for cultivation in controlled environments such as greenhouses or terrariums.
Features:
-
Size: A small-sized orchid with clustered, depressed ovoid to globose pseudobulbs. Each pseudobulb carries a single, apical, oblong-lanceolate leaf.
-
Flowers: The plant produces an erect inflorescence ranging from 6 to 19 cm in length, bearing 9 to 25 small, tomentose (hairy) white flowers lined with purple. Each flower measures approximately 0.4 cm across.
-
Blooming Season: Typically blooms in the winter, with inflorescences lasting around 75 days.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent leaf scorch.
-
Temperature: Thrives in intermediate to warm temperatures, ideally between 15.5°C and 32.2°C (60°F to 90°F).
-
Humidity: High humidity is essential, ideally between 60% and 90%.
-
Watering: Water regularly, ensuring the potting medium remains moist but not waterlogged. Allow the medium to dry slightly between waterings.
-
Fertilization: Use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer at one-quarter to one-half strength every 4–6 weeks during the growing season.
-
Potting: Best grown mounted on cork or tree fern with sphagnum moss.
