Bulbophyllum morphologorum is an epiphytic orchid species first described by Kraenzlin in 1908. It is native to Thailand and Vietnam, typically found at elevations between 900 and 1,400 meters in tropical and subtropical forests. This species is characterized by its small size, warm to cool growing conditions, and a creeping rhizome. The pseudobulbs are large, ovoid, and bright green, each carrying a single thick, fleshy leaf. The plant blooms in late fall, producing numerous small flowers on a thick rachis with a lax, racemose inflorescence. The flowers are approximately 2.5 cm in size.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight may scorch the leaves.
-
Temperature: Maintain temperatures between 20°C and 30°C.
-
Humidity: Keep humidity levels high, around 60% to 80%.
-
Watering: Water regularly to keep the substrate moist but not waterlogged. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
-
Air Circulation: Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal and bacterial diseases.
-
Fertilization: Fertilize with a balanced orchid fertilizer during the growing season, following the manufacturer's instructions.
-
Rest Period: Allow a rest period after blooming by reducing watering and fertilization to mimic natural seasonal changes.
