Cattleya trianae fma. trilabelo 'Lia' is one of the most extraordinary and sought-after peloric forms of Colombia's national orchid, celebrated for its remarkable floral mutation and extreme rarity. Instead of the typical flower structure, the petals are partially transformed into additional lip-like segments, creating the distinctive trilabellate appearance with three richly colored lip-like structures. The fragrant flowers measure approximately 15–16 cm (6–6.3 in) across and display soft lavender to rose-purple sepals and petals adorned with feather-like tessellated markings, while the lip-like segments feature deep violet-purple tones surrounding a brilliant golden-yellow throat. Renowned for its striking symmetry, dramatic coloration, and unique morphology, 'Lia' has become a legendary collector's clone and an important breeding parent for exceptional peloric Cattleya trianae lines.

Care Tips:

  • Provide bright, filtered light or several hours of gentle morning sun for vigorous growth and flowering.
  • Grow in a coarse, fast-draining orchid bark mix or an open basket with excellent root aeration.
  • Water thoroughly during active growth, allowing the potting medium to dry slightly between waterings.
  • Reduce watering after pseudobulbs mature, then resume regular watering when new growth begins.
  • Maintain intermediate to warm temperatures, moderate to high humidity, and constant air circulation.
  • Fertilize regularly with a balanced orchid fertilizer at quarter- to half-strength during the growing season, reducing feeding during the resting period.
  • Repot only when new roots begin to emerge to minimize transplant stress and encourage rapid establishment.
