Cattlianthe Chief Berry is an orchid hybrid in the Cattlianthe genus (abbreviated Ctt.), a cross between Cattlianthe Sunrise Doll and Cattleya Love Castle. This hybrid typically produces compact (miniature) plants with round pink flowers featuring a bright yellow throat, often blooming more than once per year in spring and fall. Its small size and attractive blooms make it a popular choice for collectors of smaller Cattleya‑alliance orchids.

Care Tips:

  • Light:

    • Provide bright, indirect light — this encourages healthy growth and flower production.

    • Avoid hot, direct midday sun to prevent leaf burn. (General Cattlianthe/Cattleya practice)

  • Temperature:

    • Best in intermediate to warm conditions (~20–30 °C / 68–86 °F during the day) with slightly cooler nights to simulate natural temperature fluctuations.

  • Watering:

    • Water thoroughly when the medium is nearly dry, then allow it to dry slightly between waterings.

    • Do not let roots sit in standing water to avoid rot.

  • Humidity & Airflow:

    • Maintain moderate humidity (about 50–70%).

    • Ensure good air circulation to reduce the risk of disease and support healthy root and leaf growth.

  • Growing Medium:

    • Use a well‑draining orchid bark mix or similar media to provide aeration at the roots.

    • Pots with good drainage are important.

  • Fertilizing:

    • During active growth, use a balanced orchid fertilizer at a light strength (¼–½ recommended) every 2–3 weeks.

    • Reduce feeding in cooler or slower growth periods.

  • Repotting:

    • Repot when the potting medium breaks down or the plant outgrows its container — typically every 1–2 years.
