Cattlianthe Sakura Candy ‘Angel’ is a Cattleya‑alliance orchid hybrid and is a clone/selection of Cattlianthe Sakura Candy, which itself is a cross of Cattleya Starry Sky × Cattlianthe Candy Tuft. This compact hybrid is known for producing attractive pink‑toned flowers and is popular among growers of smaller Cattleya‑alliance orchids.

Care Tips:

  • Light:

    • Provide bright, indirect light — this encourages strong growth and flowering without burning leaves. Cattlianthe orchids thrive with plenty of light but should be protected from harsh direct sun.

  • Temperature:

    • Maintain temperatures generally between about 20–30 °C (68–86 °F) during the day, with slightly cooler nights to help growth and encourage blooming.

  • Watering:

    • Water thoroughly when the potting medium starts to dry out near the top (often every 7–10 days in active growth), and allow excess water to drain away. Avoid letting the roots sit in water, which can lead to rot.

  • Humidity & Airflow:

    • Maintain moderate humidity (about 50–70%). Good air circulation helps prevent fungal and bacterial issues while supporting healthy growth.

  • Growing Medium:

    • Use a well‑draining orchid mix (such as coarse bark with perlite or sphagnum moss) and a pot with drainage holes to ensure good root aeration.

  • Fertilizing:

    • During active growth, apply a balanced orchid fertilizer (e.g., 20‑20‑20 or similar) diluted to half strength every 2–4 weeks. Reduce feeding when growth slows.

  • Repotting:

    • Repot when the medium breaks down or roots begin to crowd the container, typically every 1–2 years. Repotting encourages new root growth and overall plant vigor.

  • General Tips:

    • Avoid prolonged soggy conditions; Cattlianthe orchids appreciate a wet‑dry cycle — moist then slightly dry — to mimic their natural epiphytic habitat.
