Features:
-
Flower Size: Approximately 1–2 cm
-
Color: Deep reddish-brown with a contrasting white labellum
-
Aroma: Typically lacks fragrance
-
Blooming Season: Varies; specific blooming periods are not well-documented
Care Tips:
-
Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Transition gradually from low light to higher light to encourage growth after dormancy.
-
Temperature:
-
Growing Season: Warm temperatures between 22–25°C (72–77°F).
-
Dormancy Period: Cool temperatures around 16–18°C (61–64°F).
-
-
Humidity: Maintain 50% or higher humidity, with a preference for 60–95%. Ideal for cultivation in terrariums.
-
Watering: Keep the substrate consistently moist during the growing season, but avoid waterlogging. During dormancy, reduce watering but ensure the substrate doesn't dry out completely.
-
Substrate: Grow on live sphagnum moss for optimal growth. Ensure the substrate remains moist and free from competing mosses or other plants that could smother the orchid.
-
Dormancy Care: After flowering, allow the plant to enter dormancy. Remove the tubers and store them in slightly moist sphagnum moss in a cool, dark place until new growth emerges.
-
Fertilization: Apply a very diluted, balanced fertilizer during the growing season. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can harm the delicate plant.
