Dendrobium delacourii, described by Guillaumin in 1924, is an accepted species of the orchid genus Dendrobium. It naturally occurs across Southeast Asia, specifically in Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and possibly parts of Cambodia and Assam/Bangladesh.

Features:

  • Size: A mini-to-miniature epiphyte, the mature plant stands around 10 cm tall and has club-shaped pseudobulbs (~3 cm) bearing deciduous leaves.

  • Leaves: Pale green, narrowly oblong, approximately 7–15 cm long, sheathing the pseudobulbs.

  • Flowers: Small (about 1.5–2 cm across), greenish-yellow sepals and petals, with a fringed or lacerated lip that features yellow and reddish-brown markings.

  • Inflorescence: Erect racemes emerge from newly matured pseudobulbs, bearing up to 10 flowers per spike; some accounts mention up to 20 flowers.

  • Fragrance: Slightly fragrant by some descriptions, although others note it as "not pleasingly fragrant".

Care Tips:

  • Mounting or Potting: Thrives when mounted on bark or grown in a well-draining small pot with coarse orchid mix.

  • Watering Frequency: During active growth, water 3–5 times per week, ensuring slight dryness between waterings. In winter, reduce watering significantly.

  • Light Intensity Reference: According to growers, 2500–3000 foot-candles (bright indirect light) are ideal.

  • Flowering Season: Blooms typically appear summer to fall (or April–June) and last several weeks, with some accounts saying 8–10 weeks.
