A strikingly rare pure‑white (album) form of Dendrobium farmeri, distinguished by its petaloid lip that mirrors the other petals—making this a highly unusual double mutation. The compact, vigorous plant blooms in spring on both new and old canes, sending out pendulous inflorescences up to 8″ long, covered in fragrant, daisy‑like white flowers (~2–2.5″ across) with yellow anther caps. Native to the eastern Himalayas and Southeast Asia (500–3,300 ft), it thrives in shaded, well‑ventilated conditions. This cultivar earned a Gold Medal from JOGA and recognition from AOS (CHM/AOS).

Features:

  • Album form (pure white): This orchid has completely white sepals, petals, and lip—a rare pigmentless mutation.

  • Petaloid lip: The typically distinct orchid lip has fully petal-like structure (peloric), resembling a daisy.

  • Extremely rare collector’s gem: Often described as “the rarest of all dendrobium farmeri,” highly prized for its uniqueness.

Care Tips:

  • Light

    • Bright, filtered light (1,000–2,000 fc); east/north-facing or shaded south window.

    • Needs morning/evening sun—too much shade hinders blooming.

  • Temperature

    • Day: 65–85 °F (18–29 °C); Night: 55–65 °F (13–18 °C).

    • Cooler, drier winter rest (approx. 55 °F) helps flower initiation.

  • Humidity & Air

    • Maintain 60–80% humidity; use trays, misting, humidifier.

    • Provide consistent airflow to prevent rot/fungus.

  • Watering

    • Spring–summer: keep medium evenly moist, water when top begins drying.

    • Autumn–winter: reduce watering, allow slight dry-down.

  • Fertilization

    • Apply ½-strength balanced fertilizer every 2–4 weeks during growth.

    • Stop feeding in fall/winter to promote blooms .

  • Medium / Mounting

    • Use well‑draining mix: fine bark, sphagnum moss—or mount on cork/tree‑fern.

    • Ensures quick drainage and aeration.

  • Flowering

    • Blooms in spring to early summer (Mar–Jul), lasting 2–4 weeks.

    • Flowers appear on old and new canes, and are fragrant (~2–2.5″ white petaloid form).
