Dendrobium thyrsiflorum is a striking orchid native to the Himalayan region and northern Indochina, including areas like Bhutan, Assam, Yunnan, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. It thrives at elevations between 1,100 and 2,000 meters above sea level.

Features:

This species is renowned for its dense clusters of white flowers with golden-yellow lips, resembling cascading wedding bouquets. The flowers are borne on pendant inflorescences and emit a delightful fragrance.

Care Tips:

  • Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, so a location with filtered light is ideal.

  • Temperature: Maintain daytime temperatures between 70°F and 85°F (21°C to 29°C), with nighttime temperatures dropping to around 60°F to 65°F (15°C to 18°C) to mimic its natural environment.

  • Humidity: This orchid prefers high humidity levels, ideally between 50% and 70%. In drier climates, using a humidity tray or room humidifier can help maintain these levels.

  • Watering: Water the plant regularly, ensuring the medium remains moist but not waterlogged. During its dormancy period in winter, reduce watering but do not allow the plant to dry out completely.

  • Fertilization: Feed with a balanced orchid fertilizer during the growing season, typically from spring through summer. Reduce feeding during the fall and winter months when the plant is not actively growing.

  • Air Circulation: Ensure good air circulation around the plant to prevent fungal infections and promote healthy growth.
