Diplopterygium laevissimum is a tropical fern in the family Gleicheniaceae, widely distributed across Asia. It grows in humid forest habitats, often forming spreading colonies on slopes or open understory areas. The plant is characterized by its distinctive repeatedly forked (dichotomous) fronds, which create a layered, tangled appearance. With creeping rhizomes and an ability to expand across the ground, it can form dense patches in suitable moist, shaded environments.
Care Tips:
- Light: Partial shade to bright indirect light; avoid strong direct sun
- Water: Keep consistently moist; do not allow soil to dry out completely
- Humidity: Prefers high humidity, typical of tropical environments
- Soil: Well-draining, organic-rich substrate (leaf mold, peat, bark mix)
- Temperature: Warm conditions (around 20–30°C ideal)
- Maintenance: Trim excess growth if needed—can spread aggressively in ideal conditions
