Eria rhomboidalis, formerly known as Conchidium rhomboidale, is a miniature epiphytic or lithophytic orchid native to southern China and Vietnam.
This species is characterized by its low-growing, creeping habit and small, diamond-shaped leaves. The flowers are typically white with a hint of pink, measuring approximately 2 cm across, and are borne singly on short inflorescences. They emit a subtle fragrance, adding to their appeal.
Care Tips:
Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Temperature: Intermediate to cool conditions are ideal. Maintain temperatures between 55°F and 85°F (13°C to 29°C).
Humidity: High humidity levels are beneficial. Aim for 50% to 70% relative humidity.
Watering: Keep the growing medium moist but not waterlogged. Water 3–5 times per week, allowing the medium to dry slightly between waterings.
Fertilization: During the active growing season, apply a balanced orchid fertilizer monthly. Reduce or cease fertilization during the dormant period in winter.
Mounting: This species thrives when mounted on cork bark or in hanging baskets, mimicking its natural epiphytic or lithophytic growth habit.
