Goniophlebium bourretii is native to southeastern Yunnan and southern Guizhou in China, with its distribution extending into Vietnam. The species typically grows in shaded, moist forest environments and is often found as an epiphyte on trees or growing on rocks.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light or light shade; avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the fronds.
-
Water: Keep the substrate consistently moist but not waterlogged; allow the surface to dry slightly between waterings.
-
Humidity: Thrives in high humidity; mist regularly or grow in a humid environment.
-
Temperature: Grows best in warm conditions, ideally between 18–28 °C; protect from cold drafts and frost.
-
Growing Medium: Use a well-draining, airy mix suitable for ferns or epiphytes (e.g. bark, sphagnum moss, and leaf mold).
-
Placement: Can be grown on rocks, mounted, or in shallow pots to mimic its natural epiphytic or lithophytic habitat.
-
Fertilizer: Feed lightly during the growing season with a diluted, balanced fertilizer; avoid over-fertilization.
-
Air Circulation: Ensure gentle air movement to reduce the risk of fungal problems while maintaining humidity.
