Hoya ariadna

Hoya ariadna is a striking, large-growing Hoya with thick, leathery, glossy green leaves and a climbing habit. It is native to the Malesian region, including the Moluccas, New Guinea, and northern Queensland.

Care Tips:

• Light: Provide bright, indirect or filtered light. A few hours of gentle morning sun can encourage stronger growth and flowering, while harsh midday sunlight should be avoided.
• Watering: Water thoroughly when the growing medium has partially dried, then allow excess water to drain completely. Avoid keeping the roots constantly wet.
• Growing Medium: Use a chunky, airy, fast-draining mix such as orchid bark, perlite, and organic material. Hoya roots need good access to oxygen.
• Humidity: Moderate to high humidity is beneficial, especially during active growth. Good airflow should be maintained in humid conditions.
• Temperature: Keep warm, ideally around 18–30°C (65–86°F). Protect the plant from prolonged cold temperatures.
• Fertilizing: Feed lightly with a diluted balanced fertilizer during active growth. Reduce feeding during slower growth periods.
• Support: Provide a sturdy trellis, hoop, or other support, as this is a vigorous climbing Hoya.
• Potting: Avoid oversized pots. A slightly root-bound plant generally dries more evenly and can flower better than one kept in an overly large container.
• Flowering: Keep conditions stable once flower buds develop. Do not remove old flower peduncles, as Hoyas can rebloom from established spurs.
