Hoya buotii

Hoya buotii is a rare Philippine endemic Hoya with a fast-growing, slender, wiry climbing habit and attractive elongated green leaves. Mature plants produce clusters of fuzzy, star-shaped flowers, with very pale yellow to creamy petals and a contrasting white to cream corona that becomes red to dark red toward the center. The flowers can reach around 3 cm across and are pleasantly fragrant, with a vanilla-like scent. Young leaves may develop attractive reddish tones under brighter light.

Care Tips:

• Provide bright, filtered light or gentle morning sun; avoid harsh afternoon sunlight.
• Maintain moderate to high humidity, ideally around 60–80%, with good air circulation.
• Use a very airy, well-draining substrate such as orchid bark, perlite, and coco-based materials.
• Water when the surface of the medium begins to dry, but avoid allowing the plant to remain completely dry for extended periods.
• Keep temperatures around 18–29°C (65–85°F) and protect from prolonged cold.
• Provide a trellis or other climbing support for its thin, vigorous stems.
• Fertilize lightly with a balanced fertilizer during active growth.
• Do not remove old flower peduncles, as the plant can produce flowers repeatedly from established spurs.
