Hoya carnosa ‘Nova Ghost’ is a captivating and rare cultivar of the Hoya carnosa group, prized for its silvery-green foliage that often appears ghost-like under the light. New leaves emerge pale and frosty, then mature to a muted silver-green with waxy texture. It is believed to be a reverting form of the cultivar ‘Argentea Princess’. In ideal conditions, it produces clusters of fragrant, star-shaped Hoya flowers.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal to maintain the silvery foliage. Avoid prolonged direct midday sun, which may scorch the leaves.
-
Watering: Allow the potting medium to partly or fully dry between waterings. The plant dislikes sitting in constantly moist soil.
-
Soil & Drainage: Use a well-draining mix (e.g., chunky bark, perlite, orchid bark) to mimic epiphytic conditions and prevent root issues.
-
Temperature & Humidity: Prefers warm indoor temps and moderate to high humidity. Avoid cold drafts or temperatures below ~12-14 °C (≈50-57 °F).
-
Growth Habit: Trailing or climbing vine; can be trained on a moss pole or allowed to drape. Growth may be slower than some Hoyas, especially if light or conditions are sub-optimal.
