Hoya cinnamomifolia is a striking climbing Hoya native to Java, prized for its large, dark green, leathery leaves marked by prominent lighter green veins running lengthwise across the blade. The foliage can reach approximately 15 cm long and 6 cm wide, giving the plant a bold, tropical appearance. Mature plants produce umbels of around 20–30 waxy flowers, featuring a distinctive lime-green corolla and deep burgundy corona. The flowers have a slightly reflexed form and produce sweet nectar, creating a beautiful contrast between the bright green blooms and dark foliage. Its large, strongly veined leaves and unusual green-and-burgundy flowers make it a highly attractive collector Hoya.

Care Tips:

  • Provide bright, filtered light with gentle morning or late-afternoon sun.
  • Use a chunky, airy, fast-draining substrate such as orchid bark, perlite, and coco-based materials.
  • Water thoroughly when the upper portion of the medium begins to dry, avoiding prolonged waterlogged conditions.
  • Maintain 60–80% humidity with good air circulation.
  • Keep temperatures warm to intermediate, protecting the plant from prolonged cold.
  • Provide a trellis or climbing support for its vigorous vining growth.
  • Fertilize lightly with a balanced fertilizer during active growth.
  • Avoid removing mature flower peduncles, as Hoyas can rebloom from established spurs.
