Hoya darwinii

Hoya darwinii is a rare Philippine Hoya originally described from Luzon, notable for its unusual dimorphic foliage and relatively large, showy flowers. One type of leaf is normal and elongated, while another develops into specialized, swollen structures that form ant-occupied domatia, giving the species a distinctive myrmecotrophic relationship with ants. The flowers are produced in loose clusters and are unusually large for the genus, with purple-pink, strongly reflexed corolla lobes and a contrasting pale corona. The species is particularly interesting to collectors because of its specialized foliage, large flowers, and unusual ant association.
