Hoya decipulae

Hoya decipulae is a rare epiphytic species from West Lampung, Sumatra, Indonesia, prized for its thin foliage and exceptionally unusual flowers. The slender leaves give the plant a delicate, graceful appearance, while the white flowers are the true highlight: before opening, the five corolla tips remain connected at the center, forming a fascinating cage- or whisk-like structure. Once fully open, the flowers reveal a contrasting corona and are produced in umbels, often with multiple flowers developing along the peduncles. Its unusual floral structure, relatively easy flowering habit, and rarity in cultivation make Hoya decipulae a highly desirable collector's Hoya.

Care Tips:

• Provide bright, filtered light or gentle morning sun; avoid intense afternoon sunlight.
• Use a very airy, fast-draining substrate such as orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir.
• Water more regularly than thick-leaved Hoyas, allowing the medium to approach dryness without remaining completely dry for long periods.
• Maintain 60–70% humidity with good air circulation.
• Keep temperatures around 21–24°C (70–75°F) for active growth, while protecting the plant from prolonged cold.
• Fertilize lightly at ¼–½ strength during active growth.
• Do not remove old peduncles, as new flower clusters can develop from the same flowering structures.
