Hoya edeni is a beautiful and relatively uncommon climbing Hoya native from eastern Nepal through northeastern India and northern Myanmar, where it grows in wet tropical habitats. It develops slender, rambling stems with thick, leathery elliptic to obovate-lanceolate leaves, giving the plant an attractive lush appearance. The terminal umbels carry clusters of small, fragrant flowers with a delicate, waxy texture. Its combination of substantial foliage, graceful climbing growth, and charming flower clusters makes Hoya edeni an appealing species for collectors looking for less commonly cultivated Hoyas.
Care Tips:
- Provide bright, filtered light with gentle morning or late-afternoon sun.
- Use a very airy, fast-draining substrate such as orchid bark, perlite, and coco-based material.
- Water thoroughly when the upper layer begins to dry, avoiding prolonged waterlogged conditions.
- Maintain 60–80% humidity with good air circulation.
- Keep temperatures intermediate to warm, while protecting the plant from prolonged cold.
- Provide a trellis or other climbing support for its slender, rambling stems.
- Fertilize lightly with a balanced fertilizer during active growth.
- Allow the plant to become well established before disturbing the roots, as mature growth is more likely to flower.
