Hoya naumannii

Hoya naumannii is a rare and distinctive epiphytic climbing Hoya native to the Solomon Islands, where it grows in wet tropical habitats. It develops long, slender, branching stems with relatively sparse foliage and broad, thick, leathery leaves that can reach approximately 10 cm long and 7.5 cm wide. The combination of its vigorous climbing habit and substantial, attractive foliage makes this species particularly interesting to collectors of uncommon Hoyas.

• Provide bright, filtered light with gentle morning or late-afternoon sun.
• Use a chunky, airy, fast-draining substrate such as orchid bark, perlite, and coco-based material.
• Water thoroughly when the upper portion of the medium begins to dry, while avoiding prolonged waterlogged conditions.
• Maintain moderate to high humidity, ideally around 60–80%, with good air circulation.
• Keep temperatures warm to intermediate, protecting the plant from prolonged cold.
• Provide a trellis or climbing support for its long, flexible stems.
• Fertilize lightly with a balanced fertilizer during active growth.
• Avoid removing established flower peduncles, as Hoyas can rebloom from older flowering spurs. General Hoya culture favors bright indirect light, an airy substrate, and allowing the medium to dry somewhat between waterings.
