Hoya para ‘Emerald Frost’ is a rare and highly ornamental Hoya distinguished by its thick, round-to-oval leaves that show dramatic outer variegation. Most of each leaf is covered in bright yellow to creamy-white tones, while the center retains a contrasting band of deep emerald green, giving the foliage a bold, high-contrast appearance. The variegated portion often occupies more than half of the leaf surface, creating a vivid “frosted” or glowing effect. Under bright light, new leaves may flush lightly pink along the margins. With a trailing or climbing growth habit, this cultivar is ideal for hanging baskets, trellises, or decorative displays where its striking coloration can be showcased.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. For the pink blush on variegation, some gentle morning or filtered sun helps.
-
Watering: Let the top portion of the soil dry out before watering again.
-
Soil: Use a well-draining, airy mix to mimic epiphytic growing conditions (e.g., bark, perlite, and some organic mix).
-
Humidity & Temperature: Prefers moderately high humidity and warm indoor temperatures.
-
Growth / Maintenance: Because the variegation is quite delicate, it may grow slower than non-variegated Hoyas.
