Hoya phuwuaensis is a rare climbing epiphytic Hoya native to northeastern Thailand and Vietnam, where it grows in wet tropical forests. It is particularly attractive for its thick, elliptic leaves marked with prominent silver mottling, giving the foliage a striking ornamental appearance. The species produces positively geotropic inflorescences on slender peduncles, with clusters of small, waxy flowers that contrast beautifully with the foliage. First described from Phu Wua Wildlife Sanctuary in Thailand in 2016, H. phuwuaensis is closely related to Hoya caudata but can be distinguished by its leaf shape and distinctive floral structures.
