Hoya sigillatis is a graceful trailing epiphyte native to Borneo. Its elongated olive-green leaves are decorated with silvery splash patterns and a burgundy underside. Under strong light, the foliage may develop a beautiful reddish or purplish hue, adding depth and contrast to the plant’s appearance. Clusters of caramel-orange, waxy flowers emit a rich, sweet fragrance, making this species both visually and aromatically captivating.
Care Tips:
-
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. A few hours of gentle morning sun can enhance leaf coloration and silver patterning. Avoid harsh midday sunlight to prevent leaf burn. -
Watering:
Allow the top layer of soil to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly but avoid letting the plant sit in soggy soil. Reduce watering in cooler months. -
Humidity:
Thrives in moderate to high humidity (60–80%). Mist occasionally or use a humidifier in dry environments. -
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–30°C (65–86°F). Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C (59°F). -
Soil:
Use a well-draining, airy mix such as orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir. Good aeration helps prevent root rot. -
Fertilizer:
Feed monthly during the growing season (spring to summer) with a diluted balanced fertilizer. Pause feeding in winter. -
Propagation:
Propagate from stem cuttings with at least one node. Maintain warmth and humidity to encourage rooting.
