Hoya Sigillatis Albomarginata Outer Variegated is a rare trailing epiphyte native to Borneo. Its elongated olive-green leaves feature a silver splash pattern on the surface with cream or yellow outer margins, creating a striking contrast with the deep green center. Under bright light, the margins may develop subtle pink, reddish, or burgundy hues. When in bloom, it produces clusters of small, caramel-orange, waxy flowers with a strong, sweet fragrance, making it highly prized among collectors for both foliage and flowers.
Care Tips:
-
Light:
Bright, indirect light is ideal to maintain the silver pattern and cream/yellow outer margins. Some gentle morning sun can enhance pink or burgundy tones, but avoid harsh midday sun to prevent scorching. -
Watering:
Allow the topsoil to dry slightly between waterings. Water thoroughly but avoid soggy soil. Reduce watering in cooler months. -
Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity (60–85%). Mist occasionally or use a humidifier if air is dry. -
Temperature:
Optimal range: 18–30°C (65–86°F). Protect from cold drafts; avoid temperatures below 15°C (59°F). -
Soil / Medium:
Use a well-draining, airy mix (orchid bark, perlite, coco coir) to prevent root rot. -
Fertilizer:
Feed monthly during the growing season with a diluted balanced fertilizer. Stop feeding in winter. -
Propagation:
Propagate via stem cuttings with at least one variegated node. Maintain warmth and humidity to encourage rooting. -
Special Notes:
The cream/yellow margins and silver splash are sensitive to stress. Too little light can fade variegation, while too much direct sun may scorch the edges.
