Hoya sp. Kalimantan UT-158 is a rare collector Hoya from the Kalteng (Central Kalimantan) region of Indonesia, prized for its distinctive, heavily veined foliage. The thick, leathery leaves develop an attractive curved shape with prominent dark green venation and can mature into large, highly textured leaves, sometimes showing silvery-green tones. It is a vigorous climbing Hoya that benefits from a trellis or other support. Mature plants can produce attractive clusters of yellow, star-shaped flowers, adding a delicate floral contrast to the dramatic foliage. The combination of unusual leaf shape, pronounced venation, and collector rarity makes UT-158 a particularly desirable Hoya for foliage-focused collections.

Care Tips:

  • Provide medium to bright indirect light; gentle morning light is beneficial, while harsh afternoon sun should be avoided.
  • Use a chunky, airy, well-draining substrate such as orchid bark, perlite, and coco-based materials.
  • Water thoroughly, then allow the substrate to dry partially between waterings; avoid keeping the roots constantly wet.
  • Maintain moderate to high humidity with good air circulation.
  • Keep temperatures warm to intermediate, ideally avoiding prolonged temperatures below 14–15°C (57–59°F).
  • Provide a trellis or climbing support to encourage its vigorous vining growth.
  • Fertilize lightly with a balanced fertilizer during active growth.
  • Give the plant adequate light and allow it to mature before expecting its characteristic yellow flowers.
