Hoya thomsonii 'Pink' is a highly desirable form of the fuzzy-leaved Hoya, prized for its soft, velvety foliage and charming pink flowers. The thick, oval leaves and young stems are covered in fine hairs, giving the plant a distinctive plush texture. When mature, it produces attractive umbels of delicate pink, star-shaped flowers with pale white to yellow centers and a pleasant floral fragrance. The compact, naturally vining growth habit makes it well suited to a trellis, hanging basket, or humidity-controlled growing environment. The pink-flowered form is widely recognized in cultivation and is also listed by specialist Hoya collectors as Hoya thomsonii Pink Flowers.
Care Tips:
- Provide bright, filtered light with gentle morning sun; avoid intense afternoon sunlight.
- Maintain moderate to high humidity, ideally around 60–80%, with good air circulation.
- Use a very airy, fast-draining substrate such as orchid bark, perlite, and coco-based materials.
- Keep the medium slightly moist during active growth, allowing the surface to dry somewhat between waterings.
- Avoid prolonged complete dryness, as established plants can respond poorly to excessive dehydration.
- Maintain 15–28°C (59–82°F) and protect the plant from prolonged cold.
- Provide a trellis or other support for its compact vining growth.
- Do not remove mature flower peduncles, as future umbels can develop from established spurs.
