Hoya thomsonii 'White Flower' is a beautiful and highly desirable form of this fuzzy-leaved Hoya, prized for its exceptionally soft, velvety foliage and clusters of porcelain-white flowers. The thick, oval to elliptic leaves are densely covered with fine hairs, creating an attractive silvery-green, plush texture. When mature, it produces rounded umbels of white, star-shaped flowers with pale yellow centers; the flowers themselves are also finely fuzzy and release a sweet, noticeable fragrance, particularly in the evening.
Care Tips:
- Provide medium to bright, filtered light; gentle morning sun is beneficial, but avoid harsh afternoon sunlight.
- Use a very airy, well-draining substrate such as orchid bark, perlite, and coco-based materials.
- Allow the medium to dry substantially between waterings, then water thoroughly.
- Maintain 50–80% humidity with good air circulation.
- Keep temperatures around 16–28°C (60–82°F) and protect from prolonged cold.
- Avoid frequently wetting the fuzzy leaves, as moisture remaining on the foliage can encourage spotting.
- A slightly root-bound pot is preferable to an oversized container and can encourage flowering.
- Fertilize lightly with a balanced fertilizer during active growth.
- Do not remove old flower peduncles, as new flowers can develop from established spurs.
