Hoya wayetii ‘Variegata’ is an elegant, trailing Hoya cultivar characterized by narrow, lanceolate leaves splashed with creamy-white, yellow, and sometimes pink variegation, with many leaves so variegated that only the margins remain green. The plant grows as a vine, often reaching 2–3 feet indoors, making it ideal for hanging baskets or cascading displays.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Too much direct sun can scorch leaves; too little light may cause faded variegation and no blooms.
-
Watering: Let the soil dry almost completely between waterings. Overwatering is a common issue and can lead to root rot.
-
Soil & Drainage: Use a well-draining, chunky mix (e.g. bark, perlite) to ensure good air circulation around roots.
-
Temperature & Humidity: Keep in a warm range (about 60–85 °F / 15–29 °C). It appreciates moderate to high humidity.
-
Fertilizer: During the growing season (spring/summer), use a diluted, balanced fertilizer every 4–6 weeks. Reduce feeding in cooler months.
-
Blooming & Pruning: Avoid cutting the flower spurs—they often rebloom from the same spots. Prune only to remove dead or damaged parts.
