Paphiopedilum Gloria Naugle is a registered primary hybrid between Paphiopedilum rothschildianum × Paphiopedilum micranthum. This hybrid combines the long, elegant petals and strong striping of P. rothschildianum with the compact growth and attractive pink coloration associated with P. micranthum.
Care Tips:
- Light: Provide bright, filtered light or partial shade. Avoid strong midday direct sunlight.
- Watering: Keep the medium evenly moist but not constantly wet. Because Paphiopedilums lack pseudobulbs, avoid prolonged dryness. Water as the medium approaches dryness and allow excess water to drain completely.
- Growing Medium: Use a well-drained terrestrial orchid mix based on fine or medium bark with sphagnum, perlite or similar components. Crushed limestone can also be incorporated.
- Humidity: Moderate to high humidity is beneficial, with good air circulation. Around 60–80% works well when airflow is adequate.
- Temperature: Intermediate conditions are suitable. Approximately 20–25°C (68–77°F) during the day and 18–22°C (64–72°F) at night are a good general range.
- Fertilizing: Apply a diluted balanced orchid fertilizer during active growth. Fertilizing approximately every third watering is suitable.
- Airflow: Provide gentle, continuous airflow, especially under warm and humid conditions.
- Potting: Use a relatively small pot with good drainage. Repot when the medium begins to break down.
- Flowering: Maintain stable light, watering and temperature while buds develop. Mature plants can produce multiple flowers on a long flowering stem.
