Paphiopedilum Lebaudyanum is a hybrid between Paphiopedilum haynaldianum × Paphiopedilum philippinense. This hybrid combines the multifloral characteristics of its parent species, producing attractive flowers with cream, green, yellow, pink and reddish-brown tones. Its tall flower spike and contrasting markings make it appealing to collectors of multifloral Paphiopedilums.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Provide bright, filtered light. Multifloral Paphiopedilums generally appreciate somewhat brighter light than mottled-leaved types.
-
Watering: Keep the growing medium consistently moist but not waterlogged. Do not allow the roots to dry out completely for extended periods.
-
Growing Medium: Use a moisture-retentive, well-draining orchid mix containing medium-grade bark, perlite and sphagnum moss.
-
Humidity: Maintain approximately 50–70% humidity with good air circulation.
-
Temperature: Intermediate to warm conditions are suitable. Aim for approximately 20–30°C (68–86°F) during the day, avoiding prolonged extreme heat.
-
Fertilizing: Apply a diluted, balanced orchid fertilizer during active growth. Flush the medium periodically to prevent salt buildup.
-
Airflow: Provide gentle, continuous airflow, particularly in warm, humid conditions.
-
Potting: Use a pot with good drainage and enough space for the developing root system.
-
Repotting: Repot when the medium begins to break down, preferably when new roots are emerging.
-
Flowering: Consistent moisture, bright filtered light and healthy mature growth help support the development of multiflowered spikes.
