Paphiopedilum Lynleigh Koopowitz is a registered primary hybrid between Paphiopedilum delenatii × Paphiopedilum malipoense.
It is particularly valued for its soft pink, white and green flowers, darkly mottled foliage and pleasant, often described as raspberry-like fragrance. The hybrid is generally considered relatively easy to grow and flower.
Care Tips:
- Light: Provide low to moderate, filtered light or bright shade. Avoid strong midday sunlight. About 50% shade is suitable in a greenhouse.
- Watering: Keep the medium evenly moist but not waterlogged. Avoid allowing the plant to dry completely for long periods. Keep water out of the crown to reduce the risk of rot.
- Growing Medium: Use a loose, moisture-retentive but well-draining Paphiopedilum mix containing fine bark or coconut husk, perlite and other airy components.
- Humidity: Maintain around 60–80% humidity with good air circulation.
- Temperature: Intermediate conditions are ideal. Keep nights around 13–18°C (55–65°F) when possible; daytime temperatures can be warmer, but prolonged extreme heat should be avoided.
- Fertilizing: Feed with a diluted balanced orchid fertilizer during active growth. A weak fertilizer solution applied regularly is preferable to heavy feeding.
- Airflow: Provide gentle, continuous airflow, particularly when humidity is high.
- Potting: Use a relatively small pot with excellent drainage. Avoid oversized containers that stay wet for too long.
- Repotting: Repot as the growing medium begins to break down, ideally when new roots are emerging from the newest growth.
- Flowering: Good filtered light, consistent moisture and cooler nighttime temperatures help encourage flowering. Mature plants can produce fragrant flowers on upright stems.
