Phalaenopsis zhejiangensis is a rare epiphytic orchid species endemic to southeastern China. It occurs in the wild at elevations of 300–900 meters above sea level, primarily in the mountainous forests of Zhejiang Province, including Tianmu Mountain in Lin'an, and also in parts of Gansu, Anhui, and Shanxi provinces. This species typically grows on tree branches or rock surfaces in sparse woodlands and along forest margins.

Features:

  • Size: A mini-miniature epiphyte, reaching only 2 to 3 cm in height.

  • Leaves: 1 to 3 obovate or obovate-oblong, deciduous leaves measuring approximately 6.8 × 2.1 cm, with slightly leathery texture and a purple-dotted margin.

  • Inflorescence: A slender, racemose flower spike 8 to 13 cm long, bearing 8 to 19 flowers.

  • Flowers: Each flower is about 1 cm in diameter, with white sepals and petals irregularly streaked with mauve. The labellum has white lateral lobes with a mauve apex and a white median lobe with mauve spots. The column is yellow-greenish.

Care Tips:

  • Temperature: Cool to intermediate, ideally between 9–15°C.

  • Light: Bright, diffused light.

  • Watering: Maintain moisture during active growth; reduce watering in winter.

  • Humidity: High humidity levels are beneficial.

  • Substrate: Grow on tree branches or in well-draining orchid mix.
