Polystichum minutissimum is an extremely rare fern species discovered in 2009 within a karst cave in Libo County, Guizhou Province, China. Notably, it holds the distinction of being the smallest known member of the Polystichum genus.
Feature:
This fern is endemic to a single karst cave located approximately 10 meters from the entrance, at an elevation of about 750 meters. It thrives on dripping limestone walls and stalactites, about 0.5 to 1.5 meters above the ground, in a humid and shaded environment.
