Porpax spirodela

Porpax spirodela is a miniature epiphytic orchid. It is native to southern Yunnan (China) and parts of Indochina, including Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Features:

• Morphology: Forms dense mats composed of flattened pseudobulbs typical of the Porpax genus, with delicate inflorescences that often arise from these bulbs.

• Distribution: Native across regions of southern Yunnan, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Care Tips:

• Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent potential damage to the plant.

• Temperature: Maintain temperatures between 13–29°C (55–85°F).

• Humidity: Ideal humidity levels range from 60% to 80%.

• Watering: Water the plant regularly during its active growth period, ensuring the medium remains moist but not waterlogged. During dormancy, reduce watering to prevent root rot.

• Fertilization: Use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer at one-quarter to one-half strength every 4–6 weeks during the growing season.

• Mounting: Grow Porpax spirodela mounted on small slabs without a pad of moisture-retaining material at the roots. This setup mimics its natural epiphytic habitat and promotes healthy growth.
