Procatavola Wufong Jade is an orchid hybrid belonging to the Procatavola genus (often abbreviated as Pcv.), and it is a cross between Cattleychea Siam Jade and Brassavola nodosa.
Features:
-
Flowers are typically chartreuse to lime-green with a white lip and may show pink or lavender tones at the center.
-
Blooms are often fragrant and sized around 7–12 cm across.
-
It combines characteristics of both Cattleya-like and Brassavola-type orchids.
Care Tips:
-
Light
-
Provide bright, indirect light.
-
Morning sun or light filtered through a sheer curtain is ideal.
-
Some direct sunlight is acceptable, but avoid strong midday sun to prevent leaf burn.
-
Healthy leaves should be light green; very dark green may indicate too little light, yellowish may indicate too much.
-
-
Watering
-
Water thoroughly when the potting medium is nearly dry.
-
Allow roots/media to dry somewhat between waterings to avoid root rot.
-
Reduce watering during cooler seasons when growth slows.
-
-
Temperature
-
Keep in a warm range: daytime ~70–80 °F (21–27 °C), night ~55–60 °F (13–16 °C).
-
A gentle night-to-day temperature drop helps promote blooming.
-
-
Humidity & Airflow
-
Maintain moderate to high humidity (~50–70%).
-
Ensure good air circulation to reduce fungal or bacterial problems.
-
-
Potting Medium
-
Use a well-draining orchid mix (e.g., bark, charcoal, perlite).
-
Avoid dense or soggy media; orchids prefer airy root conditions.
-
-
Fertilizer
-
Feed diluted orchid fertilizer during active growth (weekly at quarter strength recommended).
-
Occasionally flush the medium to avoid mineral buildup.
-
-
Repotting & Maintenance
-
Repot every 1–2 years or when the medium breaks down or roots fill the pot.
-
Best to repot after flowering or when new growth appears.
