Renanthera vietnamensis is an epiphytic or lithophytic orchid species in the family Orchidaceae, native to northern Vietnam near the Chinese border. It grows on rocky limestone hills and ridges within primary broadleaf and coniferous forests at elevations of approximately 650–1200 m. The plants are small to medium in size and are notable for producing showy, well-spaced flowers in spring, borne on long racemose inflorescences.

Care Tips:

  • Light: Provide bright, filtered light (but avoid harsh direct sun) to support strong growth and flowering.

  • Temperature: Typically grows in intermediate to warm conditions; maintain a range of about 15–28 °C.

  • Humidity: Prefers high humidity (~76–85 %).

  • Watering: Keep the roots consistently moist with good drainage; allow a slight drying between waterings, especially in cooler periods.

  • Airflow: Ensure good air circulation to prevent rot and fungal issues.

  • Growing Medium: Use a well-draining orchid mix such as bark, charcoal, or sphagnum moss suited for epiphytic orchids.

  • Fertilization: Feed with a balanced orchid fertilizer at half strength during the growing season, adjusting according to growth activity.

  • Blooming: Typically blooms in spring with numerous flowers on long inflorescences.
