Selliguea hastata is a rhizomatous epiphytic or lithophytic fern native to East and Southeast Asia, including China, Japan, and the Philippines. It typically grows on rocks, tree trunks, or shaded forest slopes in humid environments. The fronds are leathery and variable in shape, often simple when young but becoming distinctly three-lobed (hastate) with maturity. The underside of the fronds bears round sori arranged between the veins, and the plant spreads slowly through creeping rhizomes.

Care Tips:

  • Light: Bright indirect light to shade; avoid strong direct sun
  • Water: Keep evenly moist; do not allow to dry out completely
  • Humidity: High humidity preferred (60%+), mimicking forest conditions
  • Substrate: Well-draining mix (bark, sphagnum) or mount on wood/rock
  • Airflow: Good ventilation to prevent rhizome rot
  • Temperature: Warm to mild; protect from frost
  • Fertilizer: Light feeding during active growth (diluted, occasional)
